Hi, I’m Laura Jurkowski, a passionate artist and owner of Moondoggy. I create original art inspired by SpaceX, Elon Musk, pet portraits, and anything that captures my curiosity.

Born in Connecticut to two talented artists and fine art conservators, art was part of my life from the start. My father first handed me a Q-tip and a 200-year-old canvas when I was three. By eight, my parents had separated, and I lived with my mother, learning the delicate process of art conservation.

At seventeen, I lost my mother to cancer. Seeking comfort, I moved to Wyoming to be with my father, and together we found a sense of peace. Just five months later, he too passed from cancer. Losing both parents so close together left me adrift, and I eventually found myself in Florida, trying to rebuild.

I later returned to Connecticut, working for Yost Conservation and The Miller Studio in Oxford. There, I honed my craft and became known for my ability to match colors with precision. By twenty, I was already an experienced conservationist, though I still felt a deep pull to create original art.

Over time, I explored other paths—earning my EMT certification, working as a tattoo artist, and training as a dental assistant—but my passion for painting never faded.

Today, I devote myself entirely to creating bold, original pieces that inspire wonder and connection. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and for supporting my work.

MoonDoggy Studio

The name MoonDoggy has been with me since childhood. When I was little, my favorite book was Goodnight Moon. On one of the pages, there’s a picture of a cow jumping over the moon. But in my young imagination, I was certain it wasn’t a cow, it was a dog. I proudly called it the “Moondoggy.” My parents would gently correct me, laughing, saying, “No, Laura, it’s a cow jumping over the moon.” But I refused to let it go. To me, it was always the MoonDoggy.

When I lost them both to cancer, the name MoonDoggy became a piece of that love I could hold onto.

So when it came time to name my art studio, there was never really a question. MoonDoggy is a tribute to them, and to the imagination they instilled in me. I still paint with my parent's old brushes, which makes me feel closer to them with every painting.

Every piece I create under the name MoonDoggy carries a bit of that story: keeping the imagination alive.
